L'Oreal Brit Invasion

 Happy Sunday! This L'Oreal is from their LE fall british collection. Couldn't resist it for some reason. At $6 a bottle for their polish I generally have no problem passing them up... there are so much better for less, or much better for a bit more. I lovee HE polishes, but $6 for a L'Oreal really pisses me off for some reason. I am getting a little worked up now.. hahaha.

 It's a pretty mauvy taupe color with a strong golden shimmer. Formula and brush are terrible. The brush picks up way too much polish and it seems to immediately turn into a clumpy mess. Not fun. The color is really nice. I love the mauve and purple hints, but I wouldn't say worth it. Can anyone rec something similar with a nice formula?? I am drawing a blank on what is in this family!

@3 coats for smoothness.

  1. I just wore this a few days ago and I loved it! I didn't have any issues with the formula, I wonder if maybe your bottle's cap wasn't on tightly? Who knows... I bought Tea and Crumpets from the same collection (they were BOGO at Rite Aid) and the formula on that was so miserable I am contemplating returning it... Brit Invasion I find workable. I can't think of anything with a really similar color :(

  2. Wow the shimmer in this is beautiful! I'm really loving browns right now and this polish would be the perfect one to add to my collection!

  3. The colour is so pretty, it's too bad that the application wasn't great! Essie Armed and Ready kind of reminds me of this colour a bit, but it definitely has more grey undertones.

  4. Ah sorry to hear of the awful application. I do love how strong the gold shimmers are. Very pretty! :-)

  5. How about your Chanel Veritgo topped with CND gold effects? Or Paradoxal with CND gold effect? One of those might be similar. I know what you mean about the mid range price points.... I hesitate and think, Why don't I just spend a little extra on a Lippmann or something that I really want? But then I see a bunch of cheapy Sinful Colors and go nuts on those. I find Revlons to be better than L'Oreal, they're kind of in the same league, slightly cheaper, great when they are on sale. AND I have good luck with their forumlas. Revlons been doing nail polish for year and I think they are really good at it. I don't remember L'Oreal making nail polish until recently... I could be wrong... Also why is L'Oreal bothering with nail polish anyways when they own Essie?

  7. The 2 from this collection I wanted were goners in nothing flat - course we only got 4 bottles of each of the shades in this collection - sad...I wanted this one and the amazing blue as well. I cannot think of anything that has this same blend of gray & brown & gold. Odd as I also usually don't swoon over L'Oreal..in fact I only own 2 of 'em among my more than 1200 polishes.

  8. This is gorgeous. Reminds me of Owls Night sort of? Not sure how they compare, but I felt like I needed Owl's Night and I'm feeling the same way with this one! Looks awesome!!

  9. This is BEAUTIFUL! Such a bummer about the formula though. I am a bad gauge on formula, I will put up with just about any horrid formula as long as I love the color enough lol. I'm not sure of anything similar but I agree with Jenni Lee, you could probably find a layering combo that would be similar.
